Detroit Decontaminated | Detroit, MI
Detroit Decontaminated, located in Detroit, MI, is establishing a scalable food recovery and circular economy pilot that recovers surplus food and organic kitchen waste generated by restaurant operations for redistribution as prepared meals, upcycled food production, and diversion of inedible organics into composting streams.
During NextCycle Michigan, the team will work to scale the pilot by refining logistics, strengthening partnerships for food redistribution and composting, validating operational workflows, and advancing development of an integrated platform that tracks food waste, routes recovery opportunities, and reports diversion and sustainability outcomes. The long term vision is to create a replicable model that can be deployed by food operators, municipalities, and community organizations seeking to reduce food waste and increase food access.
