Funding Pathways
NextCycle Michigan, through funding from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), provides two funding pathways: Seed Awards and Circular Economy Grants. Learn more about these opportunities below. If application periods are active, follow the link to get started. Applicants do not have to be involved in other aspects of the NextCycle Michigan program to qualify.
Seed Awards
The NextCycle Michigan Seed Award Program provides small-scale funding and support to early-stage projects focused on keeping materials out of landfills. These awards are designed to help businesses, public sector entities, solid waste authorities, tribal governments, universities/colleges, and nonprofits get a jump-start on launching or scaling a solution that fills a gap in Michigan’s circular economy.

Circular Economy Grants
The Circular Economy Grants are funded by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) as part of NextCycle Michigan. The grants are designed to support the development of circular supply chains in Michigan, utilizing otherwise wasted material streams by advancing reuse, repair, remanufacturing, recycling, organics recovery, composting or scaling markets for recovered materials.
Applicants must be physically located in Michigan and can be a single entity or a collaboration including businesses, non-profit organizations, tribal governments, school districts, universities, colleges, local health departments, regional planning agencies, municipal solid waste or resource recovery authorities, cities, villages, townships, charter townships, counties, or similar entities.
